A Family Affair (11/12)

A married couple, Lilly and Werner Harms, and their 26-year-old son Holger, have been brutally murdered in their suburban home outside Munich. Inspectors Jürgen Tauber and Jo Obermaier are appalled by the bestiality of the slaughter. Their 20-year-old daughter Maren only survived because she spent the night with a friend. When she returns to her parents' house to find them dead, she goes into shock. Tauber likes the girl and promises her he'll solve the case as quickly as possible. He asks her fiancé Thomas Rösch to look after her, worried she may still be in danger. But soon Tauber realizes he's not going to be able to keep his vow so easily. There are several suspects, but not enough evidence to pin the deed on any one of them. The pressure mounts to solve the case, not only from the DA, but also from Maren Harms. When Tauber pushes a suspect too hard, causing him to commit suicide even though he's innocent, he has a breakdown and takes a leave of absence. Months later, a farmer discovers the murder weapon while ploughing his field?
