Andreas Lenz, the victim's business partner, quickly becomes the focus of the investigation. But Peter Pfitzer, head of a citizens' initiative that is vehemently protesting against the modernization of the lift, may also have committed the murder. Or was a private motive the trigger for the crime? The murdered man's marriage was in a serious crisis and the victim's wife comes under massive suspicion. She asserts her innocence, but in fact she provides the decisive clues for the true background of the crime.
